The New "Grandcats"!

Grandcats....is there such a word?
There must be as I have just become the Cats` Grandmother!

Last week, our elder son and his partner adopted two lovely cats, so we drove over to see them at the weekend. The cats are two brothers who are around a year old. Their previous owners reluctantly had to find them a new home as circumstances caused them to move house into the centre of a town, to a rented house where pets were not allowed.

Since their arrival, the two new Boys have been neutered and microchipped. Despite a day of feeling a bit sore, they have settled in well. They are sweet natured cats who are happy to be picked up or to sit on a lap. At night, they sleep curled up together and they groom each other at least once a day. The Boys have kept their old names. They have had enough changes to deal with for now.

We took them a pair of toy catnip mice as a welcome present. Figgy, the black and white boy, was more interested in his new bed, which provides very good camouflage. He still has a scratch on his nose from a fight with a neighbouring Tom cat in his old garden.

The Boys will not go outside into their new garden for at least two weeks. When they do, they will have butter put on their paws in time-honoured fashion. That trick has always worked with our cats. By the time they have licked off the butter, the new garden feels like home!

Here is Gizzy, who is a a soft, pale fawn colour rather than the strong ginger of our own Ginger Man.

He rushed about, chasing his catnip mouse and having a wonderful play around the chair legs......

.....and then a good wash was needed after all that exercise.

Awww, I adore black and white cats.
It is wonderful that they are together.
I wonder why the former owners let his "outdoor" cat not be neutered. that is a crime ! All dogs and especially cats should be neutered.

Daughter just adopted a kitty that was an abused, neglected outdoor cat. He fell (?) off the roof and ripped the skin off the top of his head down to his neck. Months later and with a raging bloody infection he was rescued. Daughters partner worked at the vets he was finally brought to and 2 months later with a still infected head, and neutered he now has an INDOOR home with lots of love.
He is very sweet.

cheers, parsnip

They look like they've found a good home, and still together too!

They are lovely! I have a grand-cat too, he's called George and is a lovely ginger cat belonging to my daughter. Did you see the cat on the football pitch last night during the Liverpool- Tottenham game? The game came to a halt for several minutes until one of the stewards managed to pick it - apparently it's a big hit on Facebook today:) I just hope they found out where it lived and that it's safely back home now.

Of course you can have grandcats. If you are a female type, that makes you the grandmeowmy, or if you are of the male purrsuasion, it makes you a grandpaw. Looks like you have gotten a pair of sweet ones as your first grandcats.

Oh they are LOVELY! What a pretty colour Gizzy is, and WHAT saucers he has for eyes! Figgy reminds me of our dear Foggy (and only a letter out!) They have certainly landed on their feet with your son and his partner : )

They always say that cats land on their feet. Well looks as though these two certainly have.

Handsome boys--and they appear to be settling in very happily. Good that they didn't need to be separated.
