A Memory of Gingerbread
As a contribution towards the Christmas food, our Elder Son and his Fiancee ( who loves baking) made a Gingerbread House. They enjoyed creating this one evening after work. When they arrived here on Christmas morning, the Gingerbread House had to be snowed-on with icing sugar, before the Gingerbread People and a garden path of Gingerbread Stars could appear.
The saddest part came when the house had to be taken apart at the end of Christmas and the gingerbread shared between three families. No one could bear to watch, so Elder Son had to do the deed on his own. The gingerbread tasted very good!
This year`s Christmas weather was the wettest I can remember. The Winter Jasmine flowers were the only cheerful things to be found in the garden.
Not quite ready for gingerbread, our baby grand daughter was ten weeks old at Christmas and happy to watch, smile and try her best to join in.

Gorgeous photos - love the gingerbread house with all its bits and pieces - how hard it must have been to break it up. I too have jasmine out and it lifts the spirits. But that darling grand-daighter - what a sweetie.
What a lovely gingerbread house! Isn't the winter jasmine good this year? mone seems especially full of flowers.
Such a cute gingerbread house, we made one from a kit once, it was a "prefab" LOL
Your grand daughter is adorable, I can't wait to be a granny!
Your little granddaughter is a cutie -- Long may she wave!
What a sweetie she is! The gingerbread house is absolutely gorgeous. I love the icicles dripping off the roof.
What a wonderful gingerbread house! The winter jasmine has been fantastic this year, it's such a lovely bright patch of colour on grey winter days.
That is/was a gorgeous gingerbread house. An even more beautiful baby girl.
I've never attempted to make a gingerbread house though I admire them. I'm afraid I would be 'all thumbs'--the same as when I try to make things that involve glue.
What we call 'gingerbread' is a sort of cake made with molasses and spice--served with whipped cream.
I'm thinking that the dough used to make a gingerbread house must be more like a cookie dough[?]
What a great Gingerbread House :) We've some Winter Jasmine flowering too and the flowers do brighten up the dull Winter days Your little grand daughter is beautiful :)
