On our way into Bournemouth today, we drove along the clifftop at Southbourne to see the sea at its wildest. The wind caught at our breath as we pushed through the huge gusts, across the green to the cliff top. The wind was gusting to 78 MPH in the Channel off Portland Bill today and at The Needles , on the western edge of the Isle of Wight, wind speeds of 100MPH were measured.

I think this might be weather I would prefer to view from the car rather than getting out to fight the wind. The helplessness of human kind before the weather is a humbling matter.
I mentioned to J. this morning that one of the delights of "visiting" blog-mates is that I'm becoming more aware of English geography. What a lot of sea coast is there.
It was one of those winds you could lean into MM!
