Forest Cat finds a patch of sunlight and rolls into the warmth.
There is a kitten cry from the window, as Lucy twitches whiskers and crouches, watching the garden birds outside.
Lucy rolls on her back, submitting. Forest Cat washes her ears and then stalks away, his dignity intact.

Forest Cat gets up and smells Trouble.
A sideways wriggle, and she pounces on the older cat. A twisting , rolling, playing heap of tabby fur rolls across the room.......
.....until they both have had enough.

Lucy bathes in the wintery sun........
.....until she hears Old Dog claw-step across a wooden floor. Time to find someone else to play with!

Constant entertainment, a kitten! I've found that male cats are more tolerant of kittens than females, who can be quite brutal sometimes. And dogs are mostly just bemused....
How lovely that they both get on so well together. I think Lucy is going to grow up to be A Hunter!!
I just love tabbies. I had a darling one called Maxie who lived to be 12 years old and then got run over outside the farm. It was not even a clean kill and a friend who happened to pass had to put him out of his misery - I was devastated.
What's the strange light you have in your room, it looks like sunshine, please send to Sussex, we are drowning in gloom and have been all week.
Love the sequence of photo's.
As you will see from my blog, we have 5 of the little monkeys. This means as you know that Amusement is neverfar away at any time, don't you just love them ?

Delightful!
What lovely cats - how does Old Dog feel about playing with kittens?
My two males regularly "playfight" with each other and chase each other from one end of the house to the other. The black one wants to play fight with my little female, but she's not having any of it (he's a little bully, actually).
Forest Cat has lovely markings and such luxuriously long fur -- I hope he likes being brushed! Lucy seems to have quite a lively personality -- a little imp!
Hello Crafty Cat Corner. Thank you for visiting. I have just made a return call to your blog. Beautiful cats and what lovely patchwork you do!
These photo were taken last Saturday, when we did have a few glimpses of sunshine. Sunday was even better, but we have been back to grey rain ever since.
Rowan - Old Dog is very tolerant of the kitten. He loves all the cats and they exchange rubs and licks whenever they pass each other. Lucy has played with his wagging tail once or twice, and I have seen her dart under his tummy as though going under a bridge, but he is a bit too sedate to encourage too much activity!
WOL - Forest Cat is of the Norwegian Forest Cat breed. He is very beautiful and is the gentlest of all our cats. Norwegian Forests are an interesting breed and there is information about them if you do an internet search. Our boy was a stray. He had , we think, been dumped in our nearest New Forest car park and had made his way to us, the nearest house, across the heath. He was thin, miserable and hungry when I found him in the hay barn. We were unable to trace his owners, so he stayed and seems very happy with his lot!
It has been good weather to watch the cats watching the birds. Any bit of January sunshine is most welcome.
Thank you so much for visiting me at my blog, always lovely to see a new face, and to have an excuse to read a lovely, gentle blog like yours.
I am envious of your tabbies... twenty years ago we had one, Monty, ventured out only occasionally but on one of them he was taken. Just another cat in a whole spate of catnappings, going off to who knows what fate, which I couldn't bear to think about. Then we got a simple black and white lady called Rosie, and had to have her put down last year due to stomach cancer. I cry even now, thinking about her, want another, but can't bear the thought of all that sadness again. I will just admire your cats, and others.
Hi Dartford Warbler, I've just picked up your message to me. Good you found me and I'm glad I have found you too. I shall be back. All the best, Andrew (Tales of a Wessex Reiver)
