Down in a shady corner of the garden, the Lenten Hellebores have suddenly come into flower.
They sometimes bow their heads, so that you have to lift a flower with careful fingers , to see the delicate patterning of tiny spots against a white petal, or to find soft, blushing colours hidden underneath.
I kept the camera in my pocket as I worked in the fields this evening. Just as I turned to leave, the sky turned from blue and salmon pink to deep, glowing orange behind the trees.

Such beautiful delicate flowers. I don't remember seeing them before. And the sunset is gorgeous!
I had heard of "hellebores" but never seen any. No idea they had flowers either. How charming they are -- and delicately colorful. Certainly is orange, that sunset. Must be a lot of dust in the air -- from someplace else, though, as I hear it has been rather rainy there. Please feel free to send us some. We need it badly.
Fabulous sunset! I only have two hellebores, one of which is somehow in the paddock so needs moving. You look to have a lovely selection.
Fabulous blog. Your images of trees in particular are extraordinary.
I love Lenten roses. I have quite a few in my garden but they are nowhere near out here in North Yorkshire. I started off with deep purple ones but they hybridise beautifully and I have all manner of colours now.
Beautiful sunset shots.
What fabulous sunset photographs! This reminds me that I still have to get outside and cut back last years leaves from my hellebores so that we can actually see them properly!
