An Almost Cloudless Sunset

Last night, I could see the setting sun through gaps in the field hedge. Huge, round and red, it was sinking down through a sky almost clear of cloud. I climbed the five bar gate and crossed to the hill top, to watch the sun set behind a tree-lined ridge on the western edge of Forest heathland. A glowing sky, a slight haze and a strange mark, like a phantom sun shadow, on each photograph. I expect I need to clean my lens.........

That last one looks like an abstract painting, a rather nice one, actually. One I wouldn't mind hanging in my house. I think I like the third of the sunset pictures best.

I never tire of sunsets. What a great setting! (Well spotted by the way, but what about the Rye and the Poole and the... I think you're right about rotating.)

Those sunset shots are fabulous and could almost be mistaken for the height of summer, those lazy days and long sunsets of June.

There was a strange ring around the sun here on Thursday afternoon, a day which turned out to be a harbinger of wind and rain. The sun was shining through cloud and a wide circle showed about half the colors of a rainbow, almost as though they had been drawn in and then smudged.
