Thank you

Thank you all so much for your kind and comforting words.

Old Dog`s friend ( and distant cousin), Whisper Dog,  is finding this as hard as we are. Whisper is the one with the white end to his tail in this photo of the two dogs in the garden. He spends a lot of time looking over our cattle grid by the gate, waiting for his friend to come home from a Forest walk. Taking Whisper walking and playing ball ( gently - he is almost fourteen and has arthritis too) has helped to cheer him a little.

Yesterday was hard. Today, we feel better for a while and then the loss suddenly hits home again. That is the way that grief works, so we just have to take each moment as it comes.

Our Welsh Pembroke Corgi waited for a long time by the door for Dudley, our blue eyed Aussie!
Thank you so much for sharing these heartfelt photos!
Hugs to Whisper Dog!

It does get easier - particularly if you know that their time had come and they you have given them a long and happy life in a loving family.

No words of wisdom, just a virtual HUG xx

Poor Whisper Dog - animals grieve for each other as much as we do I think. I know that 's been so in the past with my dogs and cats.

So sad to read about poor Whisper Dog. I think only time will be the healer as you go through the various stages of grief.

Like many have said, even though it is so sad you can take comfort in the fact Old Dog and Whisper have had the most wonderful life. What adventure they have had.

cheers, parsnip

I'm so sorry to read this. Poor Whisper Dog, he must really feel lonely. And I know how hard it is to lose a pet.
