The Roses at Mottisfont - Looking back

This is a very old post, from Summer 2014, that somehow never got itself published.
We spent a lovely afternoon in the gardens at the National Trust`s Mottisfont Abbey in Hampshire. Their rose collection is a national treasure and was at its most beautiful that day.

This post is to cheer up a friend who is not feeling well today. I hope it brings a bit of colour to a winter`s day.

The first two photographs shows The Pilgrim, which grows in tall pillars at the entrance to the walled rose gardens. The rest are not named as I can`t find my list, but who needs words?

The shocking pink roses are the winners, both in form and colour!

The summer photographs would cheer anyone up on a day like today DW.
We have to keep telling ourselves that summer will come round again.

Bless you, just what I needed! Some of them I recognize - the deep crimson one towards the start looks like R D Braithwaite (have one here in a tub), and the little white-eyed purpley rambler looks like Vielchenblau (ditto). They are SO delightful and I wish I was there! (Though 'twould be a bit bare and dark at the minute!!!)

Enjoyed that. Needed a spot of color. It's snowing again, and temps are going to be subzero at night here in TX. The snow is not completely melted from winter storm Goliath, which was between Xmas and New Years. No matter. I have fleece, knitted slippers, knitted shawls, lap robes and a kitty to keep me warm. You stay warm and dry, too.
