Cats and Christmas Flowers

One afternoon last week, I spent a few relaxing hours "doing the flowers" for the Christmas Dinner of a village group that I have joined. With flowers from the town, some sparkly things and a mass of foliage from garden shrubs and trees, six small arrangements took shape under the watchful eyes of the cats.

Lucy Kitten and the Ginger One inspected and sniffed.......

Lucy threatened to leap, but was scooped up just in time.....

Finished, and kept safe from cats behind closed doors.

After a lovely Christmas meal in a village hall, when everyone dispersed into the freezing night, the flowers went home with some of the villagers who are older and frailer than most, and who may spend much of the Christmas season on their own.

Lovely arrangements! I like that they went home with some of the elderly people. Very cheering.

BTW, wanted to pass along a recipe that sounds yummy:

Must be a nice break to do the arrangements what with all the snowy weather England has been having. In my house, those flowers would last about three seconds (only because my three cats are very old and slowing down).

Oh those cats look very curious! How kind of you to make those beautiful arrangements for the old folk.

The flower arrangements are so pretty. At one time years ago I often created simple "bouquets" for my church using flowers from my garden. I had to put them in my truck overnight or find them strewed all over the table and floor.
My Charlie cat and his offspring regularly make "salad" of my potted plants. I do love the way Lucy's "herringbone" tail is stretched out behind her while she contemplates your trug of flowers.

I'm glad that the cats "helped" you with your arrangements. They looked very colourful and I am sure they were much appreciated when they were gifted after your meeting.

What lovely flowers! Our mission today is to go off and find some greenery to begin the christmas decorating .
